Leavenworth 1/2

I had a girls weekend in the middle of Oct, my friends and I drove out to Leavenworth to run another 1/2 marathon. We went out to dinner.

Got hot chocolate and walked around the cutest little town and then went back to my friends parents house to sleep.

The next morning we were up early for our race.

It ended up being one of my worst races ever. Two weeks before the race I started having troubles with my knee. Matt gave me a shot of hydrocotizone to help. And it worked great, I was running 8 1/2 min miles for the first 5 miles and was so excited that I was on pace to beat my personal best time. Then at mile 5 1/2, we went down a hill and turned and my knee went on fire. I couldn't run, I could barly walk. I stopped and prayed for help. It calmed down enough so I could walk, and I decided to walk to the next water center and get some help from the first aid center. Only problem was that there was no first aid. So I kept walking. It sucked. I cried. I wanted to quit and take a short cut. But then I looked at the shirt I was wearing and kept thinking of the saying of the signs that where posted around BYU campus to keep people off the grass corners. The signs read, "Cougars don't cut corners." So I couldn't stop or make my own short cut, I am a Cougar, and I don't cut corners. Needless to say, I haven't given up on running. I'm doing therapy and have already signed up for my next 1/2 in May. I am going to get better and I am going to break the 2 hour mark in May.
